Can you provide specific examples of how the course content or activities aligned with your initial goals?

The course content was very in-depth, and we had access to other professionals in the field as guest speakers. Being able to ask them questions was invaluable. Also, the course is very assignment heavy, and this allowed guided experience with plenty of motivation to get good marks in the form of a personal recommendation.

What specific skills or knowledge did you gain from this course that directly contributed to achieving your goals?

Insider information of the publishing industry and how a publishing house works. Also, how to write editorial rejection or assessment letters, and a chance to try out copyediting and developmental editing. This gave me experience that I didn't have prior to starting the course.

How have you applied these skills or knowledge in your work or other professional situations?

Doing this course helped me obtain an internship with a local publishing house. It's helped me edit my own work in a more efficient way and I hope to apply this to other people's work, going forward.

Since completing the course, have you noticed any improvements in your job performance?

Yes, I'm more confident. It's daunting to be on camera with so many people at first, but by the end the worries became extinct, especially after using the breakout rooms. In the end, I enjoyed seeing everyone and asking lots of questions. It's a good skill to carry over to a work situation, especially remote work.

Have you noticed any changes in your confidence levels?

Yes, huge changes!

Have you noticed any improvements in your career prospects?

Yes. Doors have opened up, like an internship. I also feel that I have more grounds to call myself an Editor now I've completed the course, which helps on the CV.

I wanted to be an Editor, and now I am one and with good contacts inside the publishing industry.

How has this course influenced or shaped your future professional goals?

It's helped me get to my goals quicker by strengthening my CV and enabling me to get an internship.

Are there any additional skills or knowledge you would like to acquire to further pursue your goals?

I'd like to do each aspect of editing: proofreading; developmental; line/copy editing in more detail to gain more experience with each and potentially start a portfolio of my work which would be helpful, especially for freelance work.
