SECTION 1: INITIAL GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS

What specific goals or objectives did you have in mind when you enrolled in this course?

I wanted to learn more about game writing, more "technical" things, not just abstract concepts about writing or story structure. And, of course, the end goal was always to help get a job which, fortunately, happened!

What were your expectations for this course in terms of professional development or career advancement?

To be able to connect with people that have been working in this industry for a while and to connect with fellow like-minded people as well.

STUDENT STARTER POINT

01
Wanted to learn more "technical" things about game writing.
02
The ultimate goal was always to get a job.
03
Was very insecure and timid about her writing initially.

SECTION 2: COURSE EFFECTIVENESS

On a scale from 1 to 5, how well did the course help you achieve your initial goals?

5

Can you provide specific examples of how the course content or activities aligned with your initial goals?

Well, the course provided a lot of examples of game writing, how it differs from novel writing, how to structure game writing (just text vs cutscene screenwriting).

SECTION 3: SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED

What specific skills or knowledge did you gain from this course that directly contributed to achieving your goals?

Scriptwriting and how to build a portfolio (gotten some compliments on it!) I would say were the most essential part. And also, how storytelling intertwines with the gameplay and vice-versa.

How have you applied these skills or knowledge in your work or other professional situations?

Everyday I apply them. Not just writing skills and knowledge, but also about working in this industry. One of the phrases from Adrian that I remember almost daily is "the writer's job is to make everyone else's job look good", maybe I'm paraphrasing but if I were to sum up my current work experience in one phrase - it would be that!

SECTION 4: PROFESSIONAL IMPACT

Since completing the course, have you noticed any improvements in your job performance?

Well, the course helped me get a job that I have been loving so so much, so I'd say - yes!

Have you noticed any changes in your confidence levels?

Yes! At the beginning I was very insecure and timid about my writing and very scared to let someone else read it, but, Quinn and Adrian's kind words on my assignments helped me build my confidence!

Have you noticed any improvements in your career prospects?

Well, besides helping me get a job that I have been loving, not yet, but I did receive some compliments on my portfolio and how it provided varied writing samples.

Can you share examples of how these changes are related to your initial goals?

I think these changes are what helped me get the job in the first place.

SECTION 5: FUTURE GOALS

How has this course influenced or shaped your future professional goals?

It helped me believe that I would have a good chance at a career in game writing and change my life basically!

Are there any additional skills or knowledge you would like to acquire to further pursue your goals?

Right at the moment, none that I can think of, however, everyday I learn something new about working in this industry and video game development.
