It’s time to explore all of the tools a Blockchain PM needs to be familiar with including Block Explorer, Etherscan, Jira, Solidity, Infura, IPFS, and ENS.
Start performing as an experienced PM in class. You’ll work on user research, success metrics, and deploying smart contracts. Every lab & workshop is designed to be hands-on.
The proof is in the pitch. After you complete your final project and pitch your product you’ll be one step closer to conveying your idea to stakeholders. You’ll also be given tips to interview successfully in the Blockchain PM world.
You’ve likely heard these buzzwords: Merkle trees, nodes, hash functions, consensus mechanisms, and blocks. Today we’ll cover the key fundamentals of Blockchain technology and how it applies to product management. Let’s kick off our first class with an introduction to this career and the history of the field.
Assignment #1: Research a Blockchain protocol
Research a protocol outside of BTC and ETH. Does the protocol use public or private blockchain? How does it benefit it?
Go-deeper: What other consensus mechanisms are being used to secure a blockchain protocol?
We can’t talk about Blockchain without mentioning BTC. In this lesson, you learn about its history, fundamental features, and concepts such as ordinals, mining, and BTC transactions.
Ethereum! Let’s talk about its advantages, account structure, participation in the Blockchain ecosystem, and how sending & receiving transitions work.
Assignment #2: Metamask Wallet (optional)
Create a wallet, provide your mainnet address and get started with using it for the hands on lab.
The internet is constantly evolving. In this class, we’ll hit the books to learn about the latest trends and technologies on the internet. Including web evolution, DAOs, CBDCs, Stablecoins, privacy, creator economy, metaverse, and gaming. Get ready for a class debate!
Assignment #3: Project Summary
Pick a project of your choosing and read their white paper. Write a summary of the project, technology, and their goals. This could be a DAO, or other use cases.
Go deeper: Find an example of a big brand or household name using relevant technology. Why do you think they chose the underlying technology?
In this class, you’ll get an understanding of the technical components and architecture of Blockchain systems. We’ll also cover navigating the Ethereum developer ecosystem, and explain the need for developer tools that will help you deploy your own Blockchain-based solutions.
Assignment #4: Identifying Tools (optional)
Look at your previously picked project or big brand transition into blockchain and identify some of the tools they may have used and technical decisions made.
Go deeper: How does the project or brand address the Trilemma?
This class is structured to give you experience handling technology so that you gain a practical understanding of what to expect as a product manager. A few of the many things you’ll accomplish are creating & storing files on IPFS, writing smart contracts using the Solidity programming language, and deploying NFTs on the Ethereum Blockchain using popular platforms.
Assignment #5: Hands-On Lab Analysis
What did you learn by going through this exercise? What decisions might a PM need to make? Would you do things differently, why or why not?
In this class, you'll learn comprehensive product management skills including idea generation, Agile Development Methodologies, and Jira for project management. We'll also cover flow diagrams, common pitfalls, and regulatory requirements.
Assignment #6: Product Summary
Take a product that you use on a daily basis and write a product summary for a new feature that uses relevant technology.
Your customer is your focus. Through workshops and practical exercises, you will get hands-on experience in user research, crypto personas, on-chain research, epics, and user stories.
Assignment #7: Product Customer Analysis
Think about the product or enhancement you chose in the last assignment. Does it solve your customers' needs? What persona does this fit within? Who is your target audience?
How do you define a North Star? How do you build effective roadmaps for your product strategy? Practice pitching products, working with engineering teams, defining MVPs, and use your knowledge of mainstream, hybrid, and decentralized strategies in this class.
Assignment #8: User Stories
Write acceptance criteria for the stories. Break down this feature into Epics and create user stories.
Let your metrics define your success. Learn how to effectively evaluate your Blockchain product with knowledge of how to define non-functional requirements, KPIs, and metrics. Through today’s lab, you’ll grasp on-chain metrics and gain experience in developing KPIs.
Assignment #9: Product KPIs
Write some KPIs for your product or feature.
This lesson will explain how to launch and optimize a Blockchain product through Go-to-Market strategies, A/B testing, product optimization, and risk management. The class will also present a case study to provide practical insights into the product launch process.
Assignment #11: Success Metrics
What are some alternative variations of your product or feature you can A/B Test? What are the go-to success metrics?
Where is Blockchain tech headed? Take a look into the future of Blockchain technology and the new career opportunities based on market trends. You’ll also have a chance to listen to a guest speaker and get advice on PM interviews that will help you break into the industry.
